Franklin Electric pump systems for water supply and irrigation
Franklin Electric has more than 80 years of experience in submersible pump technology, developing the first practical submersible motor in 1950. Franklin Electric also builds pumping systems for residential, commercial, agricultural, horticultural and municipal water applications. For professional installers and irrigation specialists, Franklin Electric brings together the core components needed to build and maintain a complete borehole-to-sprinkler pumping system. The Franklin Electric assortment at bevo includes submersible borehole pumps, submersible motors, control boxes and motor starters, horizontal multistage surface pumps, and drainage pumps with integrated level sensors. Visible product examples include the Franklin Electric VS4/09 4" borehole pump, Franklin Electric EH horizontal multistage booster pump, and the Franklin Electric FDX drainage pump with level sensor. These products are used to draw water from boreholes, boost pressure into sprinkler networks, and clear or transfer water across a wide range of irrigation projects.
Franklin Solution Sets
From the Borehole | VS4/09 — 4" Borehole Set
Groundwater is the cheapest irrigation water there is. The Franklin Electric VS4/09 covers 4" boreholes and everyday green space, gardens and smaller landscaping projects. A 4" stainless steel submersible pump set supplied complete with motor, drop cable, motor starter and control box. Built for continuous seasonal duty and approved by Franklin Electric for irrigation and sprinkler systems, turf and landscape, greenhouses and nurseries. The standard answer for gardens, landscaping and smaller green spaces.
Pressure and Control | EH Horizontal Multistage
Water in a tank is not yet irrigation. The Franklin Electric EH Horizontal Multistage turns a stored volume into a stable pressure at the sprinkler head. A stainless steel horizontal multistage surface pump for boosting from a tank, reservoir or rainwater buffer into a sprinkler network. Compact close-coupled design on a base plate, AISI 304 hydraulics, WRAS and ACS approved materials, and a hydraulic stack that can be removed without breaking into the pipework.
Surface Water and Dewatering | FDX with Level Sensor
Not every irrigation source is underground. A professional drainage pump with integrated level sensor, supplied with a C-Storz coupling for immediate hose connection. For drawing irrigation water from a ditch, pond or reservoir, emptying a buffer basin, or clearing a waterlogged pitch or arena before work can restart. Drop it in, connect the hose, and the level sensor handles the switching.
Engineered for reliable water delivery, from borehole to building
Franklin Electric products are selected for projects where consistent pressure, dependable groundwater supply and practical system design matter. In agricultural and horticultural applications, Franklin Electric submersible pumps and motors are linked to continuous-duty performance, sand-tolerant construction and dependable output across long operating seasons. In residential and commercial water supply, surface and multistage pumps maintain stable pressure from a tank, reservoir or borehole into the building or network. For larger sites, control boxes, motor starters and constant-pressure controllers support systems with multiple pumps and zones.
System selection depends on the water source. A submersible pump draws water from a borehole, a surface pump boosts pressure from a stored volume, and control boxes protect the motor and regulate operation. Spare parts and matched accessories are also available for maintaining existing Franklin Electric installations without replacing a complete system when only one component requires attention.
Built from every site, from well to waterworks
Whether it's a private home, a working farm, or a municipal waterworks, Franklin Electric's pumping range is built around the same core: submersible pumps and motors, drives and controls that scale from a single household well to an industrial installation. Homes, farms and industrial sites place different demands on a system, but rather than changing the product range, Franklin Electric adjusts pump size, motor rating and control system to the site, delivering reliable water from the source to the tap, the crop, or the process.
Agriculture
The need to irrigate is constantly increasing to avoid yield and quality losses, and relying on rainfall alone is a risk, especially as recent years have shown more frequent droughts. Franklin Electric's pumping systems are designed for the stability and longevity agriculture demands, supporting field irrigation, orchard and vineyard watering, and reliable drinking water supply for livestock. Beyond keeping crops watered, these systems can increase productivity, reduce energy consumption, and help farms better manage and predict yields. High Efficiency Systems, including solar-powered variants, are used on vineyards and orchards where grid power is limited or costly, cutting running costs over a full irrigation season while maintaining the same pressure and flow reliability as a mains-fed installation.
Residential
Homeowners expect the tap to flow the moment it's needed, whether the requirement is general household water, lawn irrigation, or boosting pressure in a building where mains supply falls short. Franklin Electric's residential range covers submersible motors, control boxes and High Efficiency Systems built to draw water reliably from wells and boreholes, minimizing the service calls that come with undersized or poorly matched equipment. The same systems extend to geothermal heating applications, where a submersible pump supplies the water loop, and to properties supplying their own drinking water where no mains connection exists.
Industrial
Industrial water applications call for dependability and dedicated service beyond a single motor. Franklin Electric supplies complete pumping solutions for professional industrial use, not just individual components, including 8" to 12" cast submersible pumps, drainage and wastewater pumps, high efficiency systems, and drives, controls and protection matched to the installation. This range covers municipal waterworks and drinking water wells, reverse osmosis systems boosted by series-mounted multistage pumps, and process applications where consistent output and long service life directly affect operating cost. Franklin Electric works with industrial partners from system design and planning through to after-sales support, rather than supplying equipment in isolation.
Everything from One Supplier
The pump is one item on the order. It is also the one item that cannot work alone. Every build below comes from the same supplier, on the same order, in the same delivery.
1. Riser Pipe and Wellhead
PE riser pipe rated for the working pressure of the pump, brass compression fittings, well caps, cable guards, torque arrestors and check valves. Everything between the pump and the ground.
2. Cable and Electrical
Submersible drop cable in the lengths the borehole depth calls for, drinking water approved, in the cross-section the motor rating and run length demand. Splice and termination kits, cable clips and guards, earthing accessories. A cable one size too thin is the most common avoidable fault on a borehole install — bring the depth and the motor rating and we will size it.
3. Pump Controllers and Motor Protection
Motor starters and control boxes, inverters and constant-pressure controllers, dry-run and overload protection, phase monitoring, pressure sensors and transducers. Wall-mounted units that communicate over the power cable, so no extra borehole wiring is needed.
4. Expansion Vessels and Pressure Systems
Membrane expansion and pressure vessels in the volumes an irrigation duty actually needs, precharged and matched to the setpoint. They absorb the surge when a zone valve closes, stop the pump short cycling between zones, and take the water hammer out of a long distribution main. Plus break and storage tanks, booster sets and complete constant-pressure packages.
5. Gauges, Valves and Plant Room
Pressure gauges, isolating and non-return valves, manifolds, mounting brackets and vibration isolation. The parts that make a plant room serviceable instead of something that has to be cut apart.
6. Distribution Piping and Couplings
PE and PVC pressure pipe in the classes irrigation mains actually need, with the full fitting programme: compression, electrofusion, threaded transitions and saddles. Storz and quick-release couplings, layflat and suction hose for temporary lines and tank transfer.
7. Valves, Irrigation Controllers and Sprinklers
Solenoid valves, valve boxes and irrigation controllers to run zones automatically. Pop-up sprays and gear-drive rotors for turf, pitches and arenas, impact and long-range sprinklers for open ground, and dripline for planting beds, nurseries and greenhouses.
8. Filtration and Dosing
Disc and screen filters to keep borehole sand off the nozzles, and dosing units for fertigation.
Frequently asked questions about Franklin Electric

Yes. bosta stocks Franklin Electric submersible borehole pumps, motors and surface pumps as complete, ready-to-specify sets for irrigation and water supply projects in Germany and Austria. The current range includes the Franklin Electric VS4/09 4" borehole set, the Franklin Electric EH horizontal multistage surface pump, and the Franklin Electric FDX drainage pump with level sensor, supplied alongside the matching riser pipe, cable, control and pressure components.

Franklin Electric does not manufacture irrigation-only pumps as a separate product line; its submersible borehole pumps, surface pumps and drainage pumps are general-purpose water pumping equipment approved for irrigation and sprinkler system use among other applications. Franklin Electric explicitly approves its 4" submersible pump sets for irrigation and sprinkler systems, turf and landscape, greenhouses and nurseries.
No. Submersible motors are usually supplied with a short factory cable sized to fit alongside the pump in the narrow borehole space, which means it is a reduced cross-section, just enough to carry the motor's full load current in cold water. If that same cable were run the full distance to an above-ground panel, it would most likely overheat and burn, taking the motor with it. The drop cable from motor to panel needs its own sizing, based on distance and motor rating, not the factory cable's cross-section.
A 4" borehole pump such as the Franklin Electric VS4/09 fits standard residential and small commercial boreholes and delivers a nominal flow around 4 m³/h, suited to gardens, landscaping and smaller green spaces. A 6" borehole pump, such as a 6GF motor set, is the heavy-duty option for boreholes with greater diameter and yield, used where a 4" pump runs out of capacity, for example a full-size sports park, a long distribution main, or a field under sprinkler.
Cable size depends on the motor's voltage and power rating and on the length of the run. Franklin Electric's cable tables are built to maintain at least 95 percent of supply voltage at the motor under maximum rated running current, so an undersized cable causes voltage drop, overheating and reduced motor life. Bring us the borehole depth and the motor rating and we will size the cable cross-section for you.

Yes. Submersible motors rely on the surrounding water for cooling during operation, so the motor and its cable connection must remain fully surrounded by water at all times while running. Running a submersible motor with the water level too low reduces cooling and can damage the motor, which is one of the reasons dry-run protection is built into the control system.

Yes, cable size does not need to stay constant along the full run to the panel. A common approach is to use a larger cross-section for the borehole cable, where space allows, and a smaller cross-section for the longer overground run to the panel, provided the combination still meets the maximum allowable cable length for that motor rating.

Motor starters and control boxes handle this, providing dry-run protection, overload protection and phase monitoring so the motor shuts down before damage occurs rather than continuing to run without adequate water or under excessive load. Pressure sensors and transducers can be added to the same control system to maintain constant pressure across the installation.

Franklin Electric pump sets for irrigation are available from bosta, part of the MegaGroup Trade Holding, which stocks the pumps together with the riser pipe, cable, control system and pressure vessel needed to complete the installation. Orders are placed as one specification covering the full build, rather than sourcing components from separate suppliers.
Installation depth depends on the specific pump model, the cable length supplied or specified, and the motor rating, rather than a single fixed limit across the range. Franklin Electric sizes the cable cross-section to the borehole depth and motor rating for each installation, so the borehole depth needs to be confirmed before the cable and pump combination is finalized.
