How do I look after a heat pump in winter?

Covering a heat pump:
We recommend that you cover your customers' heat pump. If you cover the outdoor unit, you can protect it against debris, such as branches or sticks. In addition, you will prevent water being left on the batteries, which could freeze them. Covers are available.

Protection against frost: 
If frost is forecast, drain the heat exchanger to prevent the pipes in the pump or the heat exchanger bursting. Switch off the heat pump and the circulation pump. Disconnect the water pipes and suck the water out of the heat exchanger via the water inlet with a flexible hose. Redirect the swimming pool water around the unit. 

Efficiency in winter: 
Heat pumps use the heat in the air. A heat pump can use heat from the air in sufficient quantities if the temperature is about -5 °C or higher. Heat pumps are still more efficient than most other kinds of heating when it is cold.
