How do I determine the appropriate brush size when gluing PVC pipe and fitting joints?
There are many variables that determine choice of brush size, such as temperature and material. However, for guidance purposes only, below are suggested brush and applicator sizes per pipe/fittings diameters:
- 16mm -32mm (3/8” – 1”) pipe and fittings - use 8mm – ½” brush or applicator that comes with some glue
- 40mm – 63mm (11/4” – 2”) pipe and fittings - use ¾” brush or applicator that comes with some glue
- 75mm – 225mm (21/2” – 8”) pipe and fittings - use 11/2” – 2” brush
- Larger sizes require 21/2” – 3” brushes
