Agricultural water tanks for irrigation and farm storage

Agricultural water tanks provide storage for farm water and irrigation installations. Available constructions include low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polyester and powder-coated steel, with different formats to suit the intended liquid and installation layout. Tank designs include vertical, horizontal and square vessels, as well as polyester tanks with legs.

Capacity and orientation are important when selecting irrigation water storage tanks. Listed examples include 200-litre square LDPE tanks, 300-litre horizontal LDPE tanks, 750-litre and 1,000-litre vertical LDPE tanks, 600-litre polyester tanks and 2,200-litre polyester tanks with legs. Check the required storage volume alongside the available installation space and the position of surrounding irrigation equipment.

Choose the right tank construction and format

LDPE and PE water storage tanks

PE storage tanks are available in blue LDPE constructions. Horizontal, vertical and square formats allow the tank orientation to be matched to the installation area. Selected LDPE tanks are identified as WRAS types, so the individual specification should be checked when this designation is required.

Horizontal models provide an alternative to upright farm water tanks, while vertical tanks use a different footprint. Square tanks provide another format for agricultural water storage. Compare capacity, shape and orientation before selecting a tank, rather than relying on capacity alone.

Polyester storage tanks

Polyester storage tanks include grey tanks in multiple capacities and tanks supplied with legs. Standard polyester tanks and legged designs should be selected according to the required format, capacity and installation arrangement. Loose polyester covers are available in several variants for compatible liquid tanks.

When comparing polyester and polyethylene water tanks, check the material, vessel shape and required cover arrangement. A loose cover must correspond with the selected tank rather than being chosen by appearance alone. Confirm the tank capacity and associated cover specification before ordering.

Fertiliser storage tanks

Fertiliser storage tanks include blue, powder-coated steel vessels for agricultural fertiliser applications. Vertical and horizontal configurations are available. Listed models include a 120-litre vertical tank and a 220-litre horizontal tank, both specified at 8 bar and fitted with hose-tail connections.

For fertiliser dosing tanks, match the tank capacity, orientation, pressure specification and hose-tail dimensions to the intended irrigation installation. The vertical model is specified with a 20 x 13 mm hose tail, while the horizontal model uses a 25 x 13 mm hose tail. These connection details should be checked against the adjoining equipment before installation.

Tank accessories and connection components

Accessories include loose black lids for LDPE tanks, loose polyester covers for liquid tanks and a bib tap set for an IBC tank. The IBC bib tap set has a brass, nickel-plated construction with an S60 x 2 connection, a 3/4-inch male thread and a hose tail. Select accessories using the exact tank and connection specification to avoid a mismatch.

Loose LDPE lids and polyester covers are offered in multiple variants. Check the relevant diameter, capacity reference or tank compatibility stated for the chosen accessory. A lid or cover intended for one tank format should not be assumed to fit another construction or capacity.

Selecting agricultural storage tanks

Start by identifying whether the installation requires farm water storage, an irrigation reservoir tank or a liquid fertiliser tank. Next, establish the required capacity and decide whether a horizontal, vertical, square or legged format suits the available location. Material and connection requirements can then be compared.

For water tanks for irrigation, check whether an LDPE or polyester construction is required and whether a separate lid or cover is needed. For agricultural fertiliser tanks, verify the pressure specification, hose-tail size and vessel orientation. Where an IBC tank forms part of the installation, confirm the tap connection, thread and hose-tail arrangement before ordering.
