Slurry sluice valves for water and slurry control

Slurry sluice valves are used where water and slurry pipework needs controlled shut-off or flow routing. Industrial sluice valves in this group cover complete valve assemblies, MZ valves and replacement components for manual, hydraulic or pneumatic operation. Selection depends on the connection type, valve size reference, stated pressure rating and the operating method required for the installation.

Heavy duty slurry sluice valves often need to work alongside compatible handles, cylinders, seals and gaskets. Matching these slurry valve accessories correctly helps maintain the intended operation of the valve assembly and avoids mismatched components in water slurry control valves.

Valve types and connection options

MZ valves include brass sluice valves with female thread, NPT female thread, square flange, flange and square flange x female thread connections. Individual MZ sluice valve options are 2.5 bar, 3 bar or 4 bar depending on the type. Cast iron options include flange swivel joints at 6 bar and 3-way plug valves at 4 bar.

Female thread and NPT female thread valves are selected for pipework with a matching threaded connection. Flange and square flange versions suit installations where the adjoining equipment or pipework uses a corresponding flange arrangement. Square flange x female thread valves provide a mixed connection format where one side of the assembly requires a flange and the other requires a threaded connection.

Manual, hydraulic and pneumatic operation

Manual operation is supported by MZ handles, brass handles and steel galvanised handle kits. Actuated options are also present, including an MZ sluice valve with actuator, hydraulic cylinders for MZ sluice valves and pneumatic cylinders in steel/brass versions. Pneumatic cylinder options include double-acting type 57 and double-acting type 57M with magnetic sensors.

Hydraulic cylinder choices include MZ hydraulic cylinder type 0055 in double-acting form and type 0510 with spring. Hydraulic cylinders for MZ sluice valve 0074 are also available. When specifying actuated slurry gate sluice valves, check the valve type reference and size reference against the cylinder or actuator component.

Sluice valve components and accessories

Slurry sluice valve accessories cover components used for operation, sealing and replacement. Available parts include steel galvanised handle kits, MZ handles, hydraulic cylinders, pneumatic cylinders, gland screws, fork heads, NBR O-rings, polymer seals and gaskets. These components support maintenance and configuration of MZ valve assemblies when matched by size and type.

Several accessories are specified for 4 in, 5 in, 6 in and 8 in MZ installations. Examples include gland screws for 4 in, 5 in and 6 in valves, separate gland screws for 8 in valves, fork heads for 4 in, 5 in, 6 in and 8 in valves, and handles for 4 in, 5 in and 6 in valve references. For 3-way plug valves, brass handle options are available for 5 in and 6 in references.

Materials used across valve assemblies

Brass appears across MZ sluice valves, fork heads and selected handles. Cast iron is used in MZ swivel joints and 3-way plug valves. Steel/brass is used for pneumatic cylinders, while steel galvanised components include handle kits and gland screws. Seal and gasket components include NBR O-rings, black NBR O-rings, polymer seals and guamotor gaskets.

Material selection should be checked against the existing valve assembly and the replacement part required. For example, a seal, gasket or O-ring should match the relevant valve size reference, while a handle kit, fork head or gland screw should match the intended MZ valve size and type.

Practical selection checks

Select slurry sluice valves by confirming the connection style first: female thread, NPT female thread, flange, square flange or square flange x female thread. Then check the stated pressure rating on the required valve type, such as 2.5 bar, 3 bar, 4 bar or 6 bar where specified. Finally, match the size reference and operation method, whether manual, hydraulic, pneumatic or actuator-equipped.

For threaded installations, MZ sluice valve brass 4 bar female thread type 0040 provides a female thread option. For flanged installations, MZ sluice valve brass square flange type 0074 provides a square flange option. NPT pipework should be matched with NPT female thread valve references only.
