Frequently asked questions about Elbe
The choice depends mainly on the required surface and application. SUPRA is available in plain colours and printed designs, PEARL has a light-reflecting surface, ELITE is designed for demanding applications including public pools, while SOLID STONE, UNIQUE TILE and MOTION provide textured 3D surfaces. CLASSIC NON-SLIP is intended for wet barefoot areas. Check the technical data for the selected range before specification.
CLASSIC NON-SLIP is a 1.9 mm reinforced membrane with a contoured surface designed to reduce the risk of slipping on steps, stairs and in paddling pools. Bosta states that it reaches application class C according to DIN 51097 and DIN EN 13451. SOLID STONE, UNIQUE TILE and MOTION also have textured 3D surfaces with slip-resistance class C according to ELBE.
Yes. ELBE states that its reinforced pool membranes are suitable for both new construction and renovation projects. They can be adapted on site to different pool shapes and sizes. The ELBE catalogue also lists existing pool structures such as concrete, masonry, wood, steel, aluminium and polyester as suitable renovation substrates, subject to correct preparation and installation.
ELBE recommends using a protective and separating fleece beneath the membrane. Its purpose is to separate the liner from the substrate and help protect it against mechanical damage and interaction with the pool structure. Correct substrate preparation remains important before installation.
SOLID STONE, UNIQUE TILE and MOTION are specifically identified by ELBE as suitable for head-to-head welding with the appropriate underlayer welding strip. This method can be useful where a less visible seam is required, particularly on pool floors. Bosta also identifies SOLID STONE as suitable for head-to-head welding.
Thickness varies by range. SUPRA and ELITE are 1.5 mm, PEARL is 1.6 mm, SOLID STONE, UNIQUE TILE and MOTION are 1.8 mm, while CLASSIC NON-SLIP is 1.9 mm. Roll width also varies: for example, Bosta offers SUPRA in 1.65 m and 2.00 m widths, while CLASSIC NON-SLIP and the 3D ranges shown in the current assortment are 1.65 m wide. Check the exact product variant before calculating material quantities.
The recommended maximum temperature depends on the range. ELBE specifies 33°C for SUPRA, PEARL, MOTION, SOLID STONE and UNIQUE TILE, 35°C for ELITE and 32°C for CLASSIC NON-SLIP. For each installation, confirm the limit in the technical data for the selected product.
ELITE is the clearest option in the current Bosta assortment for demanding public-pool applications. ELBE specifically recommends ELITE for public swimming pool construction and highlights its enhanced UV, chlorine, stain and waterline resistance. SUPRA and SUPRA PRINT are also shown in the ELBE technical characteristics table as approved for public pools.
The ELBE catalogue specifies a 15-year watertightness warranty for the reinforced pool membrane ranges included here. ELITE additionally carries a 5-year stain-resistance warranty and a 5-year chlorine-resistance warranty. Warranty coverage is subject to the relevant ELBE terms and correct installation, so the documentation for the selected product should be checked before installation.
