Agricultural micro sprinklers for spray irrigation
Agricultural micro sprinklers cover several methods of distributing water through sprinkler, rotor, jet, spray and misting components. Available configurations include micro sprinklers, full-circle sprinklers, part-circle sprinklers and pop-up sprinklers, together with nozzles and fittings for assembling a suitable irrigation arrangement.
Choosing between micro irrigation sprinklers starts with the required spray format and installation position. Full-circle and 360° configurations suit installations requiring a complete circular pattern, while part-circle and 180° models provide a restricted arc. Inverted micro sprinklers are also available, alongside medium-range rotors and extra-range spray inserts. Compare the configuration carefully before matching it to the remaining irrigation equipment.
Rotors, jets and spray components
Irrigation sprinkler rotors are available in micro formats and larger threaded sprinkler configurations. Separate groups cover 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch rotors, as well as 1-inch and 1 1/2-inch rotors. Check the stated thread format and connection size when replacing a rotor or incorporating one into a new agricultural spray irrigation assembly.
Micro irrigation jets provide another spray component choice. Other nozzle formats include main nozzles, mist nozzles, pin nozzles and watering nozzles. Some micro sprinkler models use spray, rotor or mist inserts, making the insert configuration an important consideration when comparing otherwise similar fittings.
For finer spray formats, irrigation foggers and mist components include mist sprinklers and mist nozzles. Spray heads and nozzles cover further configurations, including plastic spray heads, nylon watering nozzles and plastic main nozzles. Select the required format rather than assuming different nozzles are interchangeable.
Materials and sprinkler configurations
Agricultural sprinklers are available in plastic, brass, steel and aluminium. Micro sprinklers are represented mainly by plastic models, while full-circle and part-circle sprinklers include plastic, brass, steel and aluminium constructions. Nylon is used for some mist and watering nozzles, and PE is used for a hose with adaptor.
Full-circle sprinklers include male-thread and female-thread connections in sizes such as 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch. Part-circle aluminium sprinklers are available with female threads in 1-inch and 1 1/4-inch formats. Micro sprinklers and several micro sprinkler nozzles use 3/8WW male threads, while certain spray heads, extensions and bases use UNC connections.
Nozzle dimensions and sprinkler angles also vary. Examples include 180° and 360° micro sprinklers, adjustable-angle pop-up sprinklers and full-circle or part-circle agricultural sprinklers. Match the required spray pattern first, then compare the material, nozzle format, thread and connection size.
Adaptors, stands and mounting components
Micro sprinkler adaptors cover several connection arrangements, including bayonet female to male thread, bayonet female to barbed or push-in, and female thread to barbed connections. These agricultural sprinkler components should be selected by checking both sides of the connection against the sprinkler, hose or stand being assembled.
Sprinkler stands and tubes include hoses with adaptors, plastic spikes, galvanised steel spikes and galvanised steel tripods. Extensions and sprinkler bases provide additional mounting and connection choices. Dimensions and end connections differ, so each stand, tube, spike or tripod must be checked against the intended sprinkler and feed connection.
Selecting compatible micro sprinkler fittings
Start by identifying whether the installation requires a micro sprinkler, rotor, jet, fogger, mist nozzle, spray head or larger threaded sprinkler. Next, confirm whether a full-circle, part-circle, 180° or 360° pattern is appropriate. For micro sprinkler systems using inserts, distinguish between rotor, spray and mist configurations.
Connection details require equal attention. Check nominal size, male or female thread, WW or UNC thread designation, and whether a bayonet, barbed or push-in connection is needed. An adaptor can join different connection formats only when both ends match the associated components. The sprinkler base, extension, stand, tube or spike must also suit the intended mounting arrangement.
Finally, compare the stated material, nozzle size, angle and any operating information provided for the chosen sprinkler or spray head. Selecting each component against the same installation requirements helps create a coherent agricultural micro sprinkler assembly without relying on assumed compatibility.
