Agricultural drip irrigation for field systems
Agricultural drip irrigation systems use dripline, drip tape or individual button drippers to configure irrigation layouts around planting requirements. Pressure compensated dripline configurations
Pressure compensated dripline is available in PE hose configurations with specified flow rates and dripper spacing. Examples include 16 mm black irrigation hose with 4 bar ratings, several wall thicknesses and roll lengths from 100 m to 500 m. Individual configurations have stated flow rates such as 1.6 or 2.3 litres per hour and spacing such as 20, 30 or 33 cm.
Additional configurations include pressure compensated anti-syphon dripline and pressure compensated non-leakage dripline. Check the full designation carefully when comparing standard, anti-syphon and non-leakage versions, as these distinctions affect which dripline is suitable for the intended irrigation arrangement.
Drip irrigation tape
Drip irrigation tape provides an alternative format for agricultural drip irrigation. PE drip tape is available in black, including 16 mm configurations with stated wall thickness, dripper spacing, flow rate and roll length. One configuration combines an 8 mil wall thickness, 0.7 litres per hour flow rate, 20 cm spacing and a 2,700 m roll.
Match drip tape with the correct irrigation tape accessories. Available components include PP adaptors with male thread to tape connections and figure-eight end closures. Confirm the tape dimension and the connection size at every transition before choosing adaptors, valves or closures.
Button drippers and pre-punched pipe
Pressure compensated button drippers are available with push-in to barbed and push-in to taper connections. Supported configurations have stated flow rates from 1.3 to 12 litres per hour. Pressure compensated non-leakage button drippers and complete dripper sets provide additional choices for agricultural dripline systems.
Pre-punched PE pipe for button drippers supports installations based on separate dripper positions. Select the pipe, button drippers and button dripper fittings as a compatible assembly. Check push-in dimensions, barbed or taper connection style, flow rate and any stated spacing before ordering.
Dripline fittings and accessories
Dripline accessories cover the connections, branches, terminations and supports required to assemble an irrigation layout. Available fittings include straight connectors, 90-degree elbows, T-pieces, crosses, hose tails, adaptors, plugs and plug valves. Barbed configurations are widely represented, while threaded transitions include male thread to barbed, barbed to female thread and male thread to female thread formats.
POM and PP fittings are available in several configurations. Individual straight connectors, elbows, T-pieces and plugs carry stated ratings such as 4 or 6 bar, while selected PP crosses and adaptors are rated at 8 bar. Always compare the pressure rating of each fitting with the specified requirements for the irrigation assembly rather than applying one rating to every component.
Supports, closures and flow components
Pipe clips, hose clips and tie-down stakes help position dripline and associated pipework. Tie-down stakes are available for 16 to 20 mm pipe, while pipe clips and hose clips include 16 mm configurations. Figure-eight end closures provide a termination option for 16 mm hose or tape.
Plug valves are available with barbed or threaded connections, and lateral flush valves are offered with 16 mm barbed connections. Selection should account for connection format, nominal size and stated pressure rating. A valve, connector or closure must match the adjoining dripline, tape, PE pipe or threaded component.
Selecting compatible agricultural dripline systems
Begin with the required dripline, drip tape or button dripper format, then compare diameter, wall thickness, roll length, flow rate and dripper spacing. For dripline, also distinguish between standard pressure compensated, anti-syphon and non-leakage configurations. For button drippers, check whether the outlet uses a barbed or taper connection and whether a non-leakage version is required.
Next, map every straight joint, change of direction, branch, threaded transition and endpoint. Select matching drip tape fittings, dripline accessories or button dripper fittings for those positions. Verify dimensions at each connection, particularly where 16 mm and 20 mm pipework, 22 mm tape connections or threaded adaptors form part of the same precision field irrigation layout.
Finally, compare the stated pressure rating of each connector, valve and fitting. Confirm that clips, stakes and end closures match the pipe or tape dimensions. Checking these details as one assembly helps prevent mismatched barbed, threaded, push-in, taper or tape connections during installation.
